Derek Norris has won the volunteer of the month by England Squash. The award has been put forward by regional manager Mark Shipley to England Squash to recognise the work Derek has been doing in building awareness of squash in our area. Derek visits schools through the South Hunsley partnership and tries to feed the children back to the Goole L C to take up the sport on the courts. Working with them through his club (Woodland Squash) and then taking them forward into the HJSA and hopefully further. So far, this has proven quite a success. Derek believes this is not all down to his coaching skills, but the passion for the game that shows through. The award will be presented to Derek by Steve Amoss, who is Head of National Development, on Saturday 13th February on the glass court at the National Squash centre in Manchester. Well done Derek!
